350 years of history until celery became popular in Japan

It was about 350 years ago that celery came from overseas. It is believed to have been brought in by Dutch ships.

It was named "Dutch Mitsuba".

I'm surprised to know that celery is a food from Europe because I thought that is Asian vegetable.

 

Celery has various kinds of nutrition besides vitamins as follows!

Potassium: prevention of high blood pressure/stroke

I cooked stir-fried celery and shrimp at home. It was delicious!

I would like to share that recipe with you!

 

 

▮Ingredients▮ Number of servings:2 

shrimp 500g / 2 stalks of celery / 2 cloves of garlic / 1 clove of ginger / sweetened sake / salt and pepper

 

Preparation before cooking:

  1. Wash a shrimp well and peel the shell.
  2. Cut celery diagonally and boil for 5 mins.

 

How to cook:

  1. 1. Add oil to a pan and heat.
  2. 2. Add garlic and ginger and stir until you can smell.
  3. 3. Add shrimps and boiled celery and stir.
  4. 4. Season it with sweetened sake, salt, and pepper.
