HORIUCHI L-Fucoidan
Evaluation of the effect of HORIUCHI L-Fucoidan (Low molecular) on New Coronavirus and SARS by Kyushu University
Angiotensin Converting Enzyme II (ACE2) provides a foothold when the New Coronavirus and SARS virus enter human cells. If this ACE2 can be inhibited, the virus cannot enter the human cell, so that a preventive effect against the New Coronavirus can be expected.

Experimental Method
- Use a kit containing ACE2 and Coronavirus spike protein
- Add L-Fucoidan aqueous solution
- Evaluate whether L-Fucoidan inhibits the binding of ACE2 to viral spike proteins

Results of binding inhibition test of ACE2 and viral spike protein using L-Fucoidan
L-Fuicoidan showed approximately 100% ACE2-virus spike protein binding inhibitory activity at a concentration of 1.15 mg / mL. On the other hand, H-fucoidan showed about 20 to 30% of binding inhibitory activity in all the concentration ranges tested, and no concentration-dependent activity was observed.

L-Fucoidan has higher activity than H-fucoidan, and can be expected to have a preventive effect on the New Coronavirus.
